THINUS Delport says that Worcester Warriors are not far off the finished product despite his side going down to their third defeat of the new Guinness Premiership campaign.

The Sixways wing believes that it is just a matter of decision making that is costing Mike Ruddock's men victory.

Having gone down 21-16 to Saracens at home on Saturday, the Warriors are still searching for their first win of the current campaign.

However, the former South Africa international feels that Worcester are a much better side than last year.

"We have got three points, which is a big improvement on last year," he said. "We are playing with a lot more confidence than we were last season and we are showing a lot more ability.

"We have evolved our game and it is just a matter of getting it correct under pressure."

The South African wing feels that the type of rugby that Ruddock is trying to get Worcester playing does have a place in the top flight.

"Look at Gloucester," he said. "Every year they are successful they have been playing a similar brand of rugby that we are trying to play.

"Once you get it right it is a great game to play.

"It is just a matter of fine tuning it, taking the right options and making the right decisions.

"As a group we feel that we are very close to where we want to be. It's just very, very frustrating that we are not getting there.

"The ball is bouncing against us, but we are getting there."

It was individual errors that cost the Warriors once again in this latest setback and once more they were caught by an interception try, this time it was Shane Drahm and not Delport who threw the suicidal pass.

"We are very disappointed," he said. "We felt that we had the game but once again we made the mistakes and they capitalised on it.

"It was as if they beat us, we lost the game. We had the majority of the ball, a lot of territory, but we made the mistakes and fair play to them for capitalising on them."
