ANDY Preece is relishing the added pressure that will come his way when Worcester City move to their new stadium at Nunnery Way.

The St George's Lane chief knows that when the Blue Square North club move in the 2009-10 campaign to the new £8million complex that extra funds should be available for new players.

But with the greater funds for new talent comes extra pressure and that is something Preece is ready to tackle head on.

"The new stadium is great news for the club and it should help me attract more quality players to the club," said Preece.

"Getting rid of the debt (£800,000) will be massive for us as it has been crippling the club and it means we will be able to compete with the bigger teams.

"In having this new stadium there is added pressure on me to ultimately deliver League football. But that is something that I thrive on and I can't wait."

The new 6,000 capacity stadium, which will be built to Football League standards, will also be a show of the club's ambition.

"It will help me sell the club to any new players that I look to bring in," the City boss added. "In the past we have lost out on players who have gone to smaller clubs, who have a smaller fan base, but hopefully that won't happen anymore."

Former chairman Gerald Turner was overjoyed at hearing the news that the club where he was at the helm in 1980s has finally got the move.

"It's wonderful," Turner enthused. "Getting rid of the debt as well is truly fantastic. For many years the club have been looking to leave St George's Lane and now it appears to be finally happening.

"All that is needed is to have a team capable of delivering League football."

Club president and former chairman Dr Michael Sorensen said: "It wasn't viable to stay at St George's Lane and its fantastic news that this has happened."
