DIRECTOR of rugby Alan Solomons insists he will not be responding to transfer rumours in a “hotchpotch fashion” after being quizzed over the future of lock Pierce Phillips.
The former Jersey Reds player, 26, has featured in 11 of Worcester Warriors’ 12 Gallagher Premiership games and made 10 starts in all competitions this term.
But Phillips’ contract expires at the end of this season and has reportedly attracted interest from across the channel.
According to The Rugby Paper, Top 14 outfit Agen are looking to snap up the 6ft 8in forward who has made 32 appearances in two seasons at Sixways.
Solomons refused to rubbish the speculation and instead reiterated his stance of making announcements at “the correct point”.
“I think it’s a better way for us to do it rather than doing it in a hotchpotch fashion so as soon as have got something to release we will do it.
“That’s the way we have done it as far as I am aware since I have been here and I would like to keep to that protocol.”
Solomons was also tight-lipped over Carl Kirwan’s future after the flanker was shipped out on loan to Championship club Ealing Trailfinders for the rest of the season.
The 27-year-old whose deal runs out this summer has recently returned to action after two years out through injury.
“Carl hasn’t had a lot of opportunities here and hasn’t been in the Premiership side,” Solomons said.
“He has come back from injury.
“He is a good player and this (move to Ealing) gives him an opportunity to play on a regular basis.”
Asked whether the switch to Trailfinders suggested Kirwan would not be retained by Warriors for next season, Solomons replied: “As far as retention or anything to do with recruitment is concerned we will go through our protocol and as and when we have got something to announce we will do it at the correct point.”
