WORCESTER'S Fijian number eight Netani Talei faces a race against time to be fit in time for Sunday's Rugby World Cup quarter-final against South Africa.

The Warriors' summer signing from Doncaster missed the Pacific Islanders' thrilling 38-34 win over Wales with an ankle injury but should be available for the clash with the Sprinboks in Marseilles.

While the Wales game must rank as the match of the tournament, Talei insists the side will not compromise their attacking principles against the Springboks.

He said: "We will play the same way as we did against Wales.

"We want to run the ball in hand and go through the phases. That's the Fijian way.

"We enjoy ourselves when we do that. If we go and try and defend for 80 minutes, we will not have a chance.

"It will be a much bigger challenge than Wales. We need to increase our urgency.

"They have a better defence so we will have to take our chances.

"We can't afford to concede turn-over ball to the Spingboks or lose our own line-out or they will murder us.

"They are a very strong unit. Their set-piece is the best in the world and they have some brilliant runners. Defensively, they are very aggressive.

"We have absolutely nothing to lose so we are going to go for it."

Fiji were blown off the park by Australia in their 55-12 Pool B' defeat but Talei maintains it will be a different story against South Africa.

Springboks winger Bryan Habana has already racked up six tries in the tournament but, according to Talei, the whole team have to be neutralised.

He added: "We can't just worry about Habana - all their backs are very dangerous. The key thing is we stop them getting a lot of ball.

"We have to focus on all of the team. If we can disrupt the forwards then that will stop the backs doing their jobs.

"At the moment, beating Wales is the greatest result in our history but we want to achieve more.

"I have heard the whole country was going crazy and that's fantastic.

"We want to put a smile on the face of everyone back home.

"We are definitely capable of a better performance - there is still a lot left in the tank.

"We have absolutely nothing to lose so we are going to go for it."
