DROITWICH Wildcats Girls Under 10s produced their best display of the season to win 4-0 at previously unbeaten Redditch Rubies.

The visitors had the better of the goalless first-half in the Mercian Festival Junior League fixture.

But it took a brave save from keeper Lexie Palmer to keep Rubies out. Wildcats broke the deadlock just after the restart when Abbie Wallis cut in from the right wing and fired home from a tight angle.

They started to play with more confidence and added two quick goals through Imogen Alps and Georgia Howells.

Redditch tried to fight back but strong defending by Ruth Hadley and a superb last-ditch tackle from Casey Homer kept them at bay.

Alps added her second with a skilful turn and finish. Hard-working midfielder Lucy Loach was player-of-the-match.

UNDER 11s: Warndon Villages Whippets lost 3-2 at Kempsey Colts in the Cup first round.

Whippets soon found themselves 2-0 down but a gutsy team display brought them back level with two more goals from the in-form James Stevens.

But Kempsey grabbed a goal in the last five minutes to win a good match and progress into the next round.
