A TEAM from Cropthorne and Evesham Vale Riding Club made the line-up in one of the top titles at the 2007 British Riding Club Championships in Lincolnshire.

More than 1,500 competitors from riding clubs across Britain made it to the end-of-season championships, which ran both junior and senior finals across a range of disciplines.

Cropthorne took second spot in the junior open show jumping championships, where double clear rounds proved hard to come by over a tough track.

They finished on a two round total of eight faults, just one fence behind the winning Clydach team from Wales.

Team riders were Francesca Johnson, 13, on Millennium Edition, Stephanie Kedward, 15, on Under Cover Agent, Georgina Roberts, 17, on Side Show Bob, and Victoria Stanley, 16, on Bob the Builder. Prince Henry's School, Evesham, pupil Roberts, of Cleeve Prior, was also second individually after an exciting jump-off and Stanley was fourth.

The club was then 10th in the junior novice show jumping final.

Alex Worrall, on Tiber, Madeline Pearce, on Pepe, Harriet Dickin, daughter of racehorse trainer Robin Dickin, on Champayne Bubbles, and Georgina Brundle, on Beano, made up the team.

Amy Furness, 13, was sixth in the junior novice individual jumping final on her 13.2hh pony Gorgeous Gordon.

Cropthorne's success also included a ninth in the junior equitation jumping team final for Natalie Clarke, Caitlin Ogle, Katherine Worrall and Furness.

There was a 10th in the senior open show jumping for Julia Wheeler, Jocelyn Icke, Anna Millington and Felicity Organ, who was also third individually in the senior dressage finals on Orion.

Three Counties Dressage Group were also in good form, securing third place in the senior equitation jumping championships.

Their star performer was Hanley Castle's David Drinkwater who was third individually and won the best ex-racehorse award on Mel Angel.

Joining him on the team was his sister Lisa Drinkwater and Peter Jenkins.

Lisa also rode an ex-racehorse Bonjour Bond and Jenkins partnered the 15hh-coloured sports horse stallion Goss Green Mirage.

"The winning team were only six marks ahead of us," said Jenkins.

"We were on the same score as the runners-up but they had three clears and I had a fence down. We had the highest style marks though, which was pleasing."

Jenkins went on to finish seventh in his arena of the senior open dressage finals on the 16.2hh-bay mare Goss Green Capuccino Bay.

His club-mate, Upton-on-Severn 19-year-old Hannah Jones, was fourth in her arena in the senior open dressage category on Nolton Barnacle.

"Hannah is currently a vet student at Glasgow University and rides in her holidays," added Jenkins.

"She's also recently finished second in her first affiliated novice one-day event at Urchinwood Manor."
