THE wait for significant news on Worcester City's new ground is almost over.

A Press conference has been called at St George's Lane, the club's present home, for 1pm tomorrow where plans for the project will be outlined.

City chairman Dave Boddy said: "This is the news that the supporters have been waiting a long time for."

Boddy declined to elaborate further on the details but it is expected he will confirm an agreement has been reached with developer St Modwen Properties over moving to Nunnery Way.

St Modwen reignited interest among City fans when they purchased 20 acres of land at Nunnery Way for £3.15million in April.

A timescale, funding for the stadium, an enabling development and the sale of the Lane are also likely to be on the agenda.

At a pre-season fans' forum in July the chairman said the new ground would include conference and banqueting facilities and hoped it would be ready for the 2009/10 season.

The process, including extensive negotiations, has been bogged down in legal detail in recent weeks but the long-running saga, which Boddy estimates has been on-going for 15 years, appears to be at an end.
