A DOZEN junior finals made for a hectic day at Pershore Tennis Centre which got under way with the under 14 boys' decider.

Josh Carr and Matt Baston served up a splendid opener with the former taking the title and showing just how far they have both improved in the past year.

Height didn't seem to matter when the under eights took to the court with heads not much higher than the net!

Consistent play from Harry Chadwick saw off a spirited challenge from Charlie Smith in the boys' final, while Katie Baston defeated Chloe Phipps in the girls' match after a tense and close-fought tie-break.

Next up were the under 12 finals when Andrew Clark overcame Harry Phipps and Katie Eckersley got the better of Beth Excell.

Sisters Joanna and Monika Kondratowicz locked horns in the under 14 final and both played with a maturity beyond their years with Joanna taking the honours.

The last singles final saw under eights Tess Carr and Charlotte Fox in action and both showed excellent technique but it was Fox who was victorious.

The doubles final in the same age group saw the singles winner alongside Smith and they won an enjoyable match against Chadwick and Billy Hobbs.

It was boys versus girls in the under 10s final and it was the boys - Joe Sandham and Linton Gardiner - who got the better of Chloe Phipps and Niamh Vincent, but only after a tie-break.

Eckersley won a second title when partnering Excell to victory over Ellie Smith and Lucy Saunders in the under 12s final, while Harry Phipps and Clark won the boys equivalent when defeating Alex Parker and Carr.

The final contest of the day was the under 14 mixed doubles final that saw Carr team up with Hannah Fowler to see off the challenge of Matt Baston and Lizzie Graham.
