MARK Yates wants Kidderminster Harriers to continue their rediscovered mean streak tomorrow night at bottom-of-the-table Northwich Victoria (7.45).

Harriers had conceded 11 goals in three games but bounced back to inflict Salisbury's first Blue Square Premier home defeat on Saturday, winning 1-0.

Winger Michael Blackwood scored the goal, his first of the season, while new loan keeper Chris MacKenzie recovered from his five-goal horror debut at home to Torquay.

Despite being offered the chance to bring players in on loan, manager Yates kept faith in his team's defensive abilities. He admitted: "After the last few results we needed a game where we won 1-0 and I'm happy for the players.

"I knew they were better defensively than they'd been showing and they proved it on Saturday. We've got to go to Northwich with the same commitment and attitude. We've got to work hard to get three points."

Harriers can shoot up from 11th in the table to sixth with a victory at Northwich depending on other results.

First-choice keeper Scott Bevan (thigh) and striker Iyseden Christie (ankle), who has been unable to dislodge nine-goal James Constable or Justin Richards, are still doubts.

Experienced right-back Jeff Kenna faces a late fitness test on a knock so Paul Bignot could keep his place.

The versatile Gavin Hurren completes his three-match ban for a red card.

Northwich are yet to win this season and their only point in 12 games arrived in the first home match.

They drew 3-3 with fellow strugglers Droylsden but have since lost 10 fixtures in a row with boss Neil Redfearn being an early managerial casualty.

Senior player Dino Maamria led the team in Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Woking.
