AFTER joining Kidderminster Harriers last week on a month's loan, veteran goalkeeper Chris MacKenzie has given up his coaching duties at Shrewsbury Town to concentrate on helping the Aggborough side.

The 35-year-old former Telford United stopper doubled as the goalkeeping coach at the New Meadow, but with the arrival of one-cap Wales international Glyn Garner from Leyton Orient and the performances of former Scotland Under 21 international Ryan Esson in cup games, MacKenzie has been pushed down the pecking order at the League Two high-flyers.

So with Harriers in need of a custodian following injuries to Scott Bevan (thigh) and Dean Coleman (finger), Mark Yates brought in MacKenzie.

And when Harriers came calling, MacKenzie was left with a difficult decision to make.

"I did ask Gary Peters (Shrewsbury manager) how he wanted me to handle the situation and he said it was entirely up to me," MacKenzie said.

"I'd have been happy to train and coach with Shrewsbury in the week and link up with Kidderminster for matches, but Gary said the best thing was probably go there and fully commit to it."

Harriers' trip to Histon has been postponed until Sunday October 14. The game at the Glassworld Stadium was due to take place 24 hours earlier.
