BROMSGROVE Rovers manager Rod Brown is confident his side can cause an FA Cup shock against Nuneaton Borough.

Rovers take on Kevin Wilkin's Blue Square North side in a second qualifying round clash at the Victoria Ground on Saturday (3pm).

The Greens returned to winning ways in the Southern Premier Division last Saturday when they defeated Mangotsfield United 3-1 to record their first home win of the season.

Brown wants them to continue in the same manner and believes they are capable of upsetting the odds and heaping more pressure on visiting boss Wilkin in the process.

Nuneaton, who lost to Middlesbrough in a third round proper replay in 2006, are currently 12th in the table with just three wins from their first 10 games.

The Rovers manager said: "It's a winnable game. Nuneaton have got a good tradition in the cup but haven't had the most confident of starts in the league.

"The manager will be under pressure and if they lose to us his job will be on the line."

Brown added: "It's a big game for the club from a crowd and revenue point of view.

"It's a good match for the players because these are the games you want to be involved in but we will need to be at our best."

Rovers will be forced to take the field with a predominantly youthful side after losing the experience of left-back Les Hines and centre-half Carl Heeley through injury.

Hines has pulled his hamstring, while fellow former Worcester City team-mate Heeley has torn a groin muscle and is expected to be out for eight weeks.

Brown said: "We have got a young side. The only senior player I will have on the pitch will be John Snape but the youngsters will give us energy and bags of enthusiasm.

"If we play like we did in pre-season we are definitely a side that can spring a result."

Meanwhile, Redditch United have a big test at Kettering in the second qualifying round (3pm).
