PERSHORE Town will play their first match of the season at King George Playing Fields when they host a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday (3pm).

Neil Hunt's Midland Combi-nation Premier Division leaders have been unable to use their home pitch and facilities since the July floods left them under four feet of water.

The team has been forced to play at other venues while renovation work is carried out.

The clubhouse is not expected to be ready until December but they can return to action on the field, starting with the visit of second-placed Coleshill.

Pershore chairman Colin Shepherd said: "It's a really nice game for us to have. We just hope the supporters, who have travelled with us, will come down, give us support and hopefully cheer us on to victory.

"It's been an excellent start to the season. Neil Hunt and the players have been loyal to the club because it would have been so easy to walk away from the situation."

He added: "We can't use the clubhouse to the capacity we would like but we can use the toilets for spectators and the dressing rooms and showers for the players.

"A lot of work has been done by contractors but getting things like the toilets ready has been done by the committee and club members."

But the club are still waiting to hear when their damaged floodlights will be ready.

If they are still out of action when the clocks go back next month, Pershore will need permission to kick-off at 2.15pm.

Shepherd said: "We want to play at home. Not only do we lose revenue through the gate but we have to hire pitches, which cost £100 to £150."

Meanwhile, Archdales 73 look to build on their six-match unbeaten run at home to Coton Green in Midland Combination Division One on Saturday (3pm).

Chris Houghton has left the club and Craig Cotsford is away but Dan Finnigan returns.

Matt Wilkes (tonsillitis) and Dan Sullivan (back) are doubts.
