HAVING won the Yorkshire and North East Masters Weightlifting Championship Open, Andrew Butler has now set his sights on taking the British crown.
The 40-year-old Worcester lifter heads off to the British Masters next March where he will compete in the 40-and-over age group.
However, Butler, of St John's, needs key-hole surgery on a knee cartilage injury if he is to stand a chance at the British Masters in Birmingham next year.
"I will need around six weeks to recover after the surgery," Butler said. "The chances are that I'm going to have to go private to get it sorted for the British Masters."
Butler, who trains at the Butler Health and Fitness Centre, has a personal best of 105 kilograms at the snatch and 145kg in the clean and jerk.
