WORCESTER teacher Ivor Brand won the National Double Golf Croquet Championships with Richard Thompson.
The competition, held over two days in London, saw Brand and Thompson win an impressive seven out of eight matches.
This consistency held them in good stead as they battled back from 6-2 down to win 9-7 in their semi-final.
The final was a tense affair with nerves affecting Thompson but Brand kept a cool head, having won this title twice before, securing the winning hoop at 7-5.
After also taking the national singles crown, Brand is one of only four people to hold both titles at the same time.
He is confident of making the team who will compete at the World Championships in South Africa next year.
But his first task is to defend his singles title in London at the renowned Hurlingham Club.
Brand has been a teacher at Bishop Perowne College for six years and practices at his local club at Norton Barracks.
The club is always looking for new members to take up the sport.
