A TEAM of Worcester paddlers competed at the end of season inter-club sprint regatta.

The club's older paddlers were competing at the World Masters Championships in Hungary but the mainly junior team came back with some excellent results and placed the club 14th out of the 44 clubs competing.

Most notable among the results were those of the up-and-coming junior girls who took first place in D' K1, K2 and K4 over 500 metres.

In the 1000m events, Emily Lewis, Beccy Greer, Ellie Andrews and Jenny Collier took second in the D' K4 race and Andrews joined Lewis to take fourth place in the doubles, missing out on second place by fractions of a second.

Emma Hawthorn returned from supporting her parents in Hungary and started by taking first place in the D' event with Lewis ninth.

Andrews and Collier performed well in the second and third finals respectively. The K4 crew of Hawthorn, Collier, Andrews and Lewis took a clear win with Beccy Greer, Hannah Orme and Stephanie Orme and a scottish paddler taking a well-earned fourth place in the same race.

In the final D' race of the day Hawthorn and Lewis put a huge margin between themselves and the rest of the field to take another first place.

Collier and Orme took eighth spot with Andrews and Greer taking sixth place.

Also racing in boys D' were Robert Cave and Will Terry. Cave took 9th in 1000m K1 and the pair took 8th and 6th place in 1000m and 500m K2.

Stephanie Holmes and Jonny Tye were racing in girls and boys B' classes. Holmes took 2nd place in K2 over 1000m and 500m with her partner from Banbury, 3rd place in 1000m K1 and a 2nd place in 500m K1.

Tye took 2nd in the 5km race and joined a K4 crew to win the 1000m K4 and was 2nd in the 500m.
