FATHER-and-daughter duo Roger and Marianne Day impressed at the BTF National Middle Distance Championships.

The Worcester Triathlon Club members tackled a 1,900m swim, 90km bike ride and 21km run at Rutland Water.

The event, known as the Vitruvian Triathlon, was greeted by good racing conditions but there was a testing wind on the bike course.

Marianne finished in five hours 51 minutes and 25 seconds to win her age group category.

Her father Roger managed to just squeeze ahead of his daughter, finishing in 5:41.30 and 12th in his section.

Ed Garton clocked a good 5:15.31, putting him 76th in the competitive 35 to 39-year-old category.

Duncan Jubb was 66th in the 40-44 category in 5.22.33.

At the Black Country Triathletes race at Wombourne, Worcester's Mark Elliott was fourth male veteran home in an impressive one hour.

Phil Parsons made a good return to sprint racing, winning in 56 minutes and 33 seconds at the Warwick Triathlon, organised by Trafcoo.

Tracey Hall was second female veteran over the line in 1.15.02, only narrowly missing out on first place.

Hall made up a large amount of ground after the swim where she swam 18 rather than 16 lengths due to a lane counter error.

Tegan Parsons won the 11 years plus race, held after the adults' main event, in 16 minutes 30 seconds, crowning a good day for the family.
