WORCESTER Wanderers were outclassed at Old Leamingtonians, losing 33-18.

In perfect conditions, the Wanderers started the game positively, winning ball at ease and found themselves 12-0 up inside 10 minutes.

The points came from Geraint Perkins and Richard Ralph tries with a conversion from Greg Fincher.

But a serious shoulder injury to Steve Novak and a back injury to Mike James changed the game.

Old Leamingtonians started to pressurise the Wanderers scrum which led to a well-taken penalty.

The hosts scored straight from the kick-off to begin the second-half strongly.

In a rare visit to the opposition half, Fincher converted a penalty only for Leamingtonians to come straight back with another try from broken play.

Further penalties were exchanged and Leamingtonians took the lead for the first time in the match.

There was to be further misery for the Wanderers, losing captain Fincher with a leg injury.

Leamingtonians took advantage to score under the posts to stretch their lead to 26-18 with 15 minutes to go.

The Wanderers then took control of the game as the big Leamingtonian pack started to tire.

Gaps were appearing in the Leamingtonian defence and only some good tackling held the Wanderers at bay.

Despite the pressure, the Wanderers could not score and as the visitors tried to finish off a long period of possession, the Leamingtonians fly-half intercepted the ball 15-metres out and ran the length of the field to score under the posts.
