MANAGER Andy Preece claims almost three years of training went out of the window at Alfreton.

Worcester City lost 3-1 at the Impact Arena on Saturday despite playing for 78 minutes with an extra man following a red card for Christopher Walton.

Preece laid into his charges after the match, using just about every uncomplimentary adjective in the dictionary to describe their performance.

But he was also dismayed at the way his players ignored what has been preached to them in training since Preece took over in Feburary 2005.

Preece said: "We got ourselves into good positions but the options that we were taking were so poor.

"We have done so many things over the last three years on attacking teams and engaging the last defender before passing to our overlapping player.

"It was just unbelievable how we just kept putting balls into the box from deep positions when we could get round the back of their defenders.

"The times we did get round the back we caused them problems but it was only about twice in the second-half and we had so many opportunities to do that.

"Things like that drive you potty as a manager and a coach because it's like you haven't done anything with them and they're not sure what they should be doing."
