HEREFORD gave the Edgar Street faithful something to cheer about, finally, with their first League Two home success of the season - at the fourth attempt.

And those who turned up to see the Bulls move level on points at the top-of-the-table certainly would have gone away happy after seeing a game of good quality.

United, who fielded an unchanged side following their win at Morec-ambe the previous weekend, made the early running and Clint Easton had a shot turned around a post by keeper Donovan Ricketts inside the first minute.

Bradford gave early evidence that they were a useful attacking force, however, and Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu had the ball in the net after eight minutes only for the strike to be ruled out because Peter Thorne had handled in the build-up.

It was Hereford, though, who got the early goals - two in three minutes - to establish control.

After 15 minutes, Easton's thro-ugh ball found Toumani Diago-uraga in the area and, with Peter Heckingbottom fluffing his challenge, the on-loan Watford youngster rifled in his first Hereford goal.

Three minutes later, Richard Rose completed a neat build-up on the right with a deep cross to the far post.

Steve Guinan rose above the defence and his powerful header was fumbled into the net by Ricketts for the former Cheltenham man's first goal of the season.

Ndumbu-Nsungu crashed a shot against the bar on 27 minutes but his luck turned for the better a minute later when he was struck by a long-range shot from Eddie Johnson, diverting the ball into the net past Brown.

The next goal did not arrive until five minutes into the second period when the Bulls re-established their two-goal lead.

Lionel Ainsworth sped on to a Ben Smith pass only to be sent crashing to the ground by the hapless Heck-ingbottom.

Trevor Benjamin smashed the spot-kick past Ricketts for his fourth goal of the season.

But the Bantams were far from finished and, on the hour, Ndumbu-Nsungu netted his second of the match.

With City pushing for an equaliser it was Hereford who profited six minutes from time when Diagour-aga went racing down the right before crossing for substitute Theo Robinson to shoot past Ricketts.

After that, it was only the goalkeeper who prevented Hereford from adding further goals as the lively Robinson proved a threat.
