MANAGER John Snape is braced for Worcester City to receive an approach from a higher level for full-back Tyler Weir.
The club is still awaiting formal notice of the move but Snape is not hanging about and plans to hold talks with the City favourite imminently.
It follows on from a mysterious Twitter submission on Thursday which saw Weir post: “That time again… some decisions to make.”
An adamant Snape said there had been “no approach for Tyler and I fully expect him to stay and see out the season after what the club has done for him over the past few years” in the build-up to Saturday's postponed match at Shepshed Dynamo but things have since moved on.
“Nothing has been confirmed yet but we are aware something is about to come in,” said Snape.
“Tyler has a decision to make and can read what he wants into last week. Once the approach lands we will deal with it from there.
"The player will be made aware of what is going to happen.”
Whatever happens it will have little impact on tomorrow’s home clash with Shawbury United (7.45) at the Victoria Ground with Weir one of three City players currently under suspension.
Weir serves the first of a two-match ban for accumulating 10 yellow cards with Mark Smith still to sit out one match for his red card at Heanor Town and Bekir Halil yet to begin a three-match suspension for his dismissal at Coventry Sphinx.
Smith would have been available had the Shepshed clash gone ahead with Snape left frustrated by even more fixture congestion.
“We have to get on with it,” he added. “There was no game on Saturday but hopefully after the disruption caused by the weather, we can get the campaign rolling again.
“All of us wanted to play but now we have to get there on an evening at some point between now and the end of April. It is not ideal.
“The only silver lining is Jordan Stoddart will benefit from the extra few days of rest and should be back in contention.”
As for playing for the first time since last week’s revelations over the club’s finances and the possibility of City going “fully amateur” as early as next season, Snape said: “You get situations to manage in this game but you have to get on with it.
“We will see how the players react but we will definitely not be making excuses based on the events of last week.
“I expect us to be up for it and to put on a performance.”
Shawbury have dragged themselves to within three points of safety by drawing their past two matches and beat Worcester 2-1 back in October.
“They are very workmanlike, very committed and you can see they have a good team spirit. We will be taking nothing for granted,” said Snape.
