EVESHAM Rugby Club got their Midlands Two West (South) campaign back on track with a 17-14 home victory over Nuneaton Old Edwardians.
The triumph ended a run of four straight defeats for the Lower Albert Road outfit who have climbed two places to eighth.
Evesham will now look to back that up with another win when they visit whipping boys Old Yardleians, who have lost all 12 of their league games, on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Pershore started 2018 on a disappointing note as they crashed to a 41-12 defeat at Coventry Welsh in Midlands Four West (South).
Pershore started the brighter and dominated the territory for the first 30 minutes, going close on a couple of occasions early on.
But it was the Coventry side who scored first with a breakaway effort following a kick charge-down to take a 7-0 lead.
Pershore hit back with two scores of their own with skipper Luke Hardiman barging over for the first.
Then full-back Ash White showed the defence a clean pair of heels from inside his own half to cross out wide.
The visitors were leading 12-7 and looking good going into the last 10 minutes of the half.
However, a late lapse from the Piddle Park men allowed Welsh in for two late scores and a penalty.
Trailing 24-12 going into the second period, Pershore looked to get back into the game and pressed hard.
But Welsh had the better of the possession and territory, leaving the away side starved of the ball and unable to add to their tally during the third quarter.
Pershore went into the final 20 minutes still in touch and with a sniff of catching their opponents.
But in chasing the game some defensive gaps opened up which allowed the home team to break away and score.
This was followed by a penalty try which gained the home team the bonus point along with snuffing out any chance of victory or even a losing bonus point for Pershore.
Seventh-placed Pershore take on Harbury at Piddle Park on Saturday (2.15pm).
In the Wadworth 6X Gloucester Premier, Bredon Star held leaders Old Elizabethans to a home 19-19 draw.
Star will be confident of going one better when they host second-placed Berry Hill on Saturday (2.30pm).
