A LAST-GASP try from Ash White secured Pershore a thrilling 33-29 win over Claverdon in Midlands Four West (South).
Trailing 29-21 with 10 minutes left, Pershore battled back in a closely fought contest before White touched down to the delight of the Piddle Park faithful.
The hosts were on the front foot straight away, with Josh Hardiman and Calvin May working hard in the centres and Luke Hardiman and Brian Ranns leading the forwards charge.
A couple of chances just went by the wayside before Damien May burrowed over for the first score following good work from Matt Baker and Greg Hitchcock. Dave Oliver converted.
Pershore pressed forward again from the kick off and were unlucky not to go further ahead. This time the backs spread the ball wide quickly only for the touchline to save the visitors.
Claverdon showed they were not going to be a pushover and helped by a slip in defence they scored out wide to level at 7-7.
The away side then went ahead as a fortuitous bounce saw them pounce for a second try. A penalty followed for an indiscretion to take a 17-7 lead slightly against the run of play.
After the interval Pershore tightened up their game and hit back fiercely with quickfire scores from Dan Mayfield and May again.
Oliver converted on both occasions to give the hosts a 21-17 advantage.
But Claverdon refused to lie down as they hit straight back with an unconverted score of their own to edge 22-21 in front with 20 minutes to go.
The Warwickshire outfit then had another strong period and eventually scored from a driving maul, despite great work in defence from the home team.
This left the Piddle Park men with seemingly a mountain to climb, needing two scores with time running out.
But Pershore got the lift they needed from the boisterous home support as good approach work from Hardimans, Ranns and Gav Roberts led Damien May to drive over. The try closed the gap to 29-28 and cranked up the pressure on Claverdon.
Pershore had the bit between their teeth and with the light fading and fans on the edge they snatched the victory.
Andy Jenkinson neatly put White away down the touchline.
The paceman was able to evade the last defender and crash over in the corner.
Pershore, received the ball from the kick off, to see out the last 30 seconds and secure five points.
The result saw them climb to seventh in the league, one place behind their opponents.
