BROADHEATH drag racer Lee Huxley has recorded his best result of 2007.
The 38-year-old won the Sportsman Estimated Terminal class at the Motor Sports Association Summer Nationals at Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire.
Racing in his father Brian's 1966 Ford Mustang, Huxley saw off 18 other competitors to scoop the top prize.
Drivers have to predict how many seconds it will take them to complete the quarter-mile course and the closest to the time wins.
At Santa Pod, Lee estimated a time of 15.51 seconds and got home in 15.50.
Brian Huxley, who also races, said: "You state how many seconds you are going to get from A' to B' over a quarter of a mile so if you know your car really well you should know how it will go."
The result means Huxley is leading the UK National Drag Racing Championships and the Santa Pod Racers Club Championships in his class.
