PHIL Whiteley made things look easy with a win in the first Worcester St John’s Cycling Club time trial of 2017.
Times at the Madge Hill five-mile road bike challenge were nearly a minute slower than at the 2016 event due to a nasty southerly wind which slowed riders in the final two miles.
Rebecca Lane took the women's top spot by seven seconds over Andrea Turner.
Ollie Morgan and Cameron Davidson were the fastest under 18 and under 16 riders respectively.
Chris Pettifer made an impressive first-time ride and the club welcomed newcomers Mark Hand and Louis Smith.
The time trials will take place every Tuesday evening from now until the end of the summer.
Meanwhile, St John's are holding an open 25-mile time trial on Sunday on the Cookhill/Spetchley course at 10am.
The headquarters is at Inkberrow Village Hall.
