TERRY Jenkins heads into this week's Las Vegas Desert Classic in fine form after reaching a final.

The Ledbury darts ace dropped sets in just two matches before eventually losing 3-2 in the Las Vegas Players Championship final to Raymond van Barneveld.

Van Barneveld, last year's Desert Classic runner-up, came from 1-0 down to win the first set but Jenkins took out a 143 finish on his way to the second.

Two straight legs gave the Dutchman the third yet his Herefordshire opponent resp-onded with a 116 finish in the deciding leg to send the match into a fifth set.

A pressure double nine with his last dart gave van Barn-eveld leg on before Jenkins replied against the throw with a fourth of 180 to ensure the contest went to the last leg.

Jenkins opened with back-to-back 140s but three slack scores allowed van Barneveld in to take out 48 for a 14-darter and the match.

The Bull earlier beat Gary Blades and Chris White 3-0 but was taken to a decider by Darin Young and James Wade.

Jenkins then saw off Barrie Bates 3-0 in the quarter-finals and hit back after losing the opening leg in his semi, defeating Mervyn King 3-0.

He eventually won £2,500 for finishing runner-up.
