PERSHORE Rugby Club are preparing themselves for some big changes going into the 2007/08 season.

Since the introduction of rugby union's league structure, Pershore have always found themselves in the Midlands League.

Due to level transfers they have now been moved into Western Counties North - part of the South West Lea-gue.

Instead of the usual trips to Warwickshire and the West Midlands they will enjoy trips to Gloucestershire, Bristol and Somerset.

This is not the only change to happen at Piddle Park this summer.

Martin Hope has stood down after two years as club captain and is going to be replaced by Toby Grace. The changes will be complete when Chris Johnson joins Charlie Hemmings on the coaching staff for the beginning of pre-season training.

In recent years, the summer training programme has included sessions at a boxing club, athletics track, rowing club and swimming pool.

This summer Johnson wants the emphasis to be on rugby from the off.

With this in mind, the pre-season will be spent out on the pitch and Pershore already have trial games lined up for August against local rivals Malvern and Kidderminster as well as taking part in the annual Tens' competition at Droitwich.

Pre-season training will start tomorrow at Pershore's Wyre Piddle headquarters from 7pm and will continue every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the summer and next season.

All players, new and old, are welcome to join. For more information, contact Toby Grace on 07980-039471.
