VENUE expert Chris Senter won his fourth consecutive match at Brockamin when he topped a talented field during last Monday's evening open.

Netting an excellent three-hour total of 82-8-0, the Alan's Tackle man offered red meat over corn tight into the margins on peg nine on the fisheries' top pool in order to take carp to eight pounds in his winning bag.

Again relegated to second place by Senter was pole expert Chris Summers. His level 75-0-0 catch was made up of around 30 pounds of small fish which, added to half a dozen good carp, all came from close in on peg 25 with corn and hemp being the successful bait combination.

In third place was Richard Lonsdale weighing an all-carp net of 60-14-0, taken from end peg 31 to beat Dan Coley whose 55-12-0 total included three double figure specimens caught on the pellet feeder from peg 19.

There will be another open at the fishery on Monday. Draw at 5.30pm on the car park.

The canal behind Worcester City Football Club is once again in fine seasonal form with towpath ace Mick Samson netting an excellent 14-12-11 of bream to win the latest WDUAA open.

Drawn on peg 129, Samson offered his breadpunch bait across to the far side reed bed in order to net nine good bream and a few roach.

Also capitalising on the light boat traffic was runner-up Rod Guise whose 13-0-0 consisted of eight skimmers which accepted his red maggot bait on peg 124.

Local all-rounder Mark Newman secured third place with a mainly chub catch coming off peg 121 and weighing 8-3-0. Gary Smith took fourth with an all roach weight of 7-14-0 which fell to hempseed.

Gary Brixton returned to form when he won the first Portobello match of the new season, held on Evesham's Jubilee pool last Sunday.

Like all competitors, Brixton's winning 43-1-0 net was made up of F1 carp, which grow to around two pounds, and fell to corn and meat at 14 metres on peg 21.

Dean Jameson returned to club matches with a runner-up spot when he weighed in 39-10-0 by fishing at 16 metres to the island on peg six.

Stillwater ace Nic Hill claimed third prize with a corn and meat weight of 36-2-0, while in fourth place was Alan Baldwin who had to wait until the final two hours in order to take 31-13-0 to the scales.

The next Portobello contest is on Sunday at Willow Marsh fishery.

Barbourne AC man Lee Griffiths scored a notable victory when he topped a close contest on the club's own pool at Cotheridge with 33-4-0 of carp. All his fish came to pellet bait on peg six.

Continuing his good run was second-placed Ashley Bosworth who ended just one fish short with a weight of 29-7-0.

Paul Knight was on permanent 29 where he took another all carp net going 18-7-0 for third place with club star Pete Hughes netting 17-4-0 from peg 23 on pellet for fourth.

A weight of 24-6-0 was enough to win the latest Arbo AC Sunday League encounter for Phil Bennett, who offered luncheon meat bait on peg eight of the Plough Angling club pool at Broadheath.

Tim Yapp finished second from peg 14 with another all-carp net going 20-15-0. Third went to Luke Reardon with 11-9-0, while fourth was Ron Smith with a maggot-caught 10-8-0 from permanent peg 16.
