RIDERS from Worcester St John's Cycling Club have been top of the winner's podium in two time trials promoted by Redditch Cycling Club.

In an open 10-mile event, Saints' Steve Price averaged nearly 29mph to record a time of 21 minutes, eight seconds.

This was a 10-second beating of Banbury's Jon Simpkins and more than 30 seconds faster than third placed Jo Murray of Hinckley.

In the same event, Price's team-mate Dave Walker cl-ocked 22.04 to take fifth spot with Saints' Ronnie Clews coming in with 23.28.

In an evening 25-mile event, Walker managed to take the win with a time of 57.17, while another Saints man, Sean Dyson, posted a time of 59.22 to take second place just ahead of Redditch's Olly Braithwaite (59.31).

Not to be outdone by the adults, Saints' junior riders have also performed well on the track. At the Midland Area Track Championships at Halesowen stadium, Holly Page was placed second in the 500-metre time trial and third in points and scratch races.

This was enough to see her take the overall bronze medal for her age group and gold as the fastest girl.

In the under 16s, Page's brother Joe was sixth overall after taking sixth in the 500-metre time trial and seventh in the points and scratch races.

Meanwhile, despite the second day of the regional track championships at Wolverhampton being washed out, the recent good form shown by Brom-sgrove-based MJS Racing continued with four titles.

Dominic Jelfs won the sprint and kilometre titles for the junior age group, Martin Osman picked up the senior sprint title and Jack Hibberd added the senior kilometre time trial event.

With Sunday's racing cancelled early on, Jelfs and Ben Stockdale took the opportunity to ride the Tom Simpson International Grand Prix in Nottinghamshire, which is a round of the Junior National Road Race Series.

Stockdale finished in a fantastic fourth place, while Jelfs came home in seventh position.
