GRAHAM Turner has admitted that he expects young hot-shot Andy Williams to sign for Bristol Rovers.

The 20-year-old striker is believed to have already signed a three-year deal with the Pirates after rejecting an improved contract offer at Edgar Street.

However, Bulls manager Turner is waiting to see if Rovers will offer the same amount of money as when they came in for the player during the January transfer window, or whether the matter will be settled at a tribunal.

The clubs have not yet agreed a compensation payment for Williams, who is too young to qualify for a free transfer under the Bosman rule.

Turner said: "I expect Andy Williams to become a Bristol Rovers player. We had an offer from them at Christmas time. Whether that offer still stands or whether we finish up at a tribunal to settle compensation remains to be seen."

Rovers had an initial bid of £100,000 for Williams rejected almost a year ago. Although an improved offer of £150,000 was then accepted by Hereford in January, the player decided he did not want to move to a club who were then in the same division.

But the Pirates' promotion to League One is thought to have been a major factor in the Hereford-born player opting to move.

Meanwhile, Hereford midfielder Sam Gwynne re-signed for the club yesterday. Gwynne has only appeared briefly for the first team so far.
