DORMSTON Cook and Nick Brown rescued Worcester Seconds' batting in a Crusader Worcestershire League Division One derby.

They helped the city side from 113-5 to 281-9 off 50 overs with a 122-run stand against Worcester Nomads.

Cook scored 74 and young Brown 69 with Dan Cure adding 48 as Worcester went on to win by 73 runs.

Neil Thompson and Ben Chatfield (3-81) had reduced the hosts initially on a damp but drying wicket. Nic Lloyd took 3-66.

Nomads' reply began steadily, scoring 45 before the first wicket fell.

The introduction of Mike Potter (6-50) saw wickets fall regularly until the visitors were dismissed for 208 in the 49th over.

Matt Ormerod (38) and Dean Sanders (36) top-scored for Nomads.

League leaders Nomads Thirds got back to winning ways with a seven-wicket win over Amblecote and Wollaston in Division Eight.

Amblecote were dismissed for 155 from 40 overs with spin bowlers Anton Madzarevic (2-42), Matt North (2-45), William Beazley (2-50) and David Pearson (4-13) impressing.

In reply, Nomads struggled to 18-2 but Madzarevic made 62 for the second weekend running, supported by skipper Pearson (64 not out).

Their third-wicket partnership of 123 set up the win which was completed by Jon Dimond.
