DROITWICH Boxing Club's Alex Strutt is preparing for his first professional fight under the watchful eye of former world champion Richie Woodhall.

The 25-year-old super-middleweight is due to compete at the Aston Villa Leisure Centre in August although his opponent is not yet known.

Strutt, an orthodox puncher from Ombersley, has been involved in the sport for four years and is optimistic about taking the step up.

"I've had the opportunity to go with Richie and he has been coaching me for the last six months," said Strutt. "It is going really well and Richie is full of confidence in me. My target is to get a Midlands title, then a British title and go from there."

As well as receiving coaching from Woodhall, Strutt has also had help from Worcester-based In-business Publishing Co, who financed the brain scan he needed to get his professional license.
