WORCESTER City reserve player Katie Hooper has been accepted into the Filton Women's Football Academy.

The 16-year-old midfielder will be moving down to the Bristol area in July to start a six-week pre-season training programme before college starts in September.

The Filton Academy is one of the top academies in the country and is linked to Bristol Rovers, offering a pathway to playing at Women's Premier League level.

City chairman Debbie Band said: "We are delighted that another of our players has been accepted into the Filton Academy following on from April Seers last year.

"It was obvious that, when she joined us, Katie was a talented player and has the ability to play at a higher level.

"Before playing for our reserve team last season, Katie trained with Charlton Athletic Soccer Academy in Spain where she previously lived for two-and-a-half years."
