KIDDERMINSTER Victoria claimed a 12-run victory over defending champions Walsall in the Premier Div-ision.

The key man was Jon Miles, a Lin-colnshire Minor Counties player, who bowled unchanged for 25 overs to take 4-73, including the final wicket. The 21-year-old left-arm pace bowler also bowled six maidens.

Kidderminster had a good start with skipper Jonathan Wright and Sean Lloyd putting on 62 for the first wicket when Wright (31) was caught by Green, bowled Round.

Andrew Siwicki soon got into his stride but Lloyd went for 30 when he was bowled by Wicker. Siwicki was caught by Wicker, bowled Round for 30 and KVCC were 111-3.

Craig Wood was caught behind by Middleton for a duck, giving Round his third scalp.

With only another 14 runs added, Josh Knappett (11) offered a simple catch to Tranter to give Gerry Snyman the first of his six wickets.

Chris Pyke was lbw to Snyman for nought but Peter Stevens, batting at six, gave Kidderminster some confidence with a succession of fours.

Ted Baylis (11) had joined him and the score had reached 146 when he be-came Snyman's fourth wicket courtesy of a catch by Round.

Matt Brace (one) and Kevin Forde (six) were two more wickets to add to Snyman's tally.

The target of 166 all out was not a daunting one for the visitors but they had been bowled out for 63 at Wellington the previous week.

Because of a short break for rain, Walsall had 51 overs to gain a win. By the 30th over, they had scored 91.

Opener Baker had been caught by Knappett, bowled Forde for 26. Mills was caught Pyke, bowled Baylis for 42. The league's top scorer, Nathan Round, was caught by Knappett off Baylis's bowling for a duck.

Snyman was looking dangerous but, after hitting a six, fell to a superb boundary catch by Forde off Miles for 16. With only 127 runs to their credit, Walsall lost Tranter who was caught Lloyd, bowled Miles for two and then Archer, having scored 40, was run out by Siwicki.

At 132-6 and with only seven overs remaining, KVCC were looking for victory. Miles was bowling superbly and was ably supported by Baylis.

Baylis had Middleton lbw for one but a flurry of runs took the score to 152 before Knappett caught Green for 12 off Baylis's bowling.

Miles bowled Wicker for seven and, in the next over, Baylis conceded just one run.

Miles won the game when he tr-apped Freeman lbw for two.
