HEREFORD United chief Graham Turner insists the club's bud-get needs to increase if they are to become a serious force in League Two.

The Bulls did not enjoy the smoothest of rides in their first season back in the Football League.

Turner said: "Our budget's got to go up considerably, there's no doubt about that. We're conscious of the 65 per cent of turnover limit which is the squad budget in the Football League.

"We're finding that players' wages are a lot more than we've been paying in the past and we've got to put up with that."

Striker Steve Guinan, who has signed a two-year deal, remains the only player to have been added to the squad so far during pre-season.

Tamika Mkandawire has joined Leyton Orient, while Andy Williams seems certain to switch to Bristol Rovers.

Time is also running out for other players considering offers from the club.

Turner said: "I expect Andy Williams to become a Bristol Rovers player. We had an offer from them at Christmas time. Whether that offer still stands or whether we finish up at a tribunal to settle compensation remains to be seen.

"But I think he's off to Bristol Rovers. I think in all probability we will finish up at a tribunal to set the compensation level.

"I've heard from Rob Purdie and he's going to leave it until Monday now. I've not spoken to Simon Travis and not heard anything from Alan Connell or Dean Beckwith.

"They have until Monday to inform me in writing of their intentions - whether they turn down our offer or accept it."

Adult admission prices for next season are £15 in the stands and £13 on the terraces.
