WORCESTER Dragon Boat Racing Club's Race the Dragon Regatta takes place on Sunday.

Crews from across the county and as far away as the M25 will converge on the river Severn next to Worcester Racecourse for a full day of racing to benefit TS Worcester Sea Cadets.

This year's event, which starts at 10am, has seen crew numbers swell to 19 and will include a strong turn-out of under 18s crews.

QinetiQ will return to defend their titles from 2006 as will Trustee Royals in the guise of Timbo's Treasures.

The Tolladine Tornadoes will also be trying to blow away the challenge of the Gorse Hill Gladiators, BA Hurricanes and TS Worcester Sea Cadets.

Kendall Wadley make a first appearance supporting Leukaemia research and this will be a first outing for the Worcester Busters, our Breast Cancer Survivors and supporters team.

Reservoir Frogs will be hoping to leap to success in their debut outing and Elgar Technology College return to do battle with the Spetchley Splashers from the Sixth Form College.

The finals to decide the new holders of the Lea and Perrins Cup and Regatta Plate take place around 4pm after a series of exciting eliminators.

There is free parking on the centre racecourse car park and a barbecue will be available throughout the day.
