VIKRAM Solanki is desperate for his Worcestershire side to maintain their good recent form when they take on old rivals Warwickshire in an LV County Championship Divi-sion One at Edgbaston today (11am).

When the two teams met at New Road in late May, Warwickshire handed the County a chastening innings and 109-run defeat, but since then skipper Solanki and his team-mates have turned things around.

Although Worcestershire are still rooted to the bottom of the table, Solanki feels his players will be full of confidence today.

Worcestershire clawed back some of the local bragging rights by successfully chasing down Warwickshire's 303-6 to win a thrilling Friends Provi-dent Trophy clash.

The captain said: "It would be nice to win against Warwickshire. If we can go there and get a result it would be a huge boost for us all."

"We would like to put in a great performance in this game, but it's not a case of setting the record straight against Warwickshire, it's a case of setting the record staright for ourselves.

"It's all psycological to a certain extent, but when you get to the start of the day it's all about who plays well over the four days."

Off-spinner Gareth Batty has recovered from the back spasm that ruled him out of the rained-off FPT match with Scotland on Wednesday and replaces Moeen Ali in the 12-man squad.

Pace bowler Matt Mason is still sidelined with a shoulder problem, but Roger Sillence is hoping to play club cricket this weekend as he continues his recovery from a side strain.

Warwickshire have opted to rest former captain Heath Streak, who has been struggling with a back injury. The seamer is replaced by Naq-aash Tahir, while James Anyon replaces Lee Daggett in the two changes to the team that beat Durham.

Worcestershire will select from the following 12: Jaques, Moore, Solanki, Smith, Hick, Davies, Batty, Hogg, Kabir, Bollinger, Malik, Price.
