WORCESTER suffered an 11-shot defeat 83-72 by County Ground at Wood Terrace.

The scores were level at five ends 22-22 but by halfway Ground took a 21-shot lead after picking up a seven and two sixes.

By the 15th end, Worcester reduced the arrears to five after a four and two threes.

Over the remaining three ends, the visitors increased their advantage with a five on the final end and claimed victories on three of the five triples.

Leading the way for Worcester was Arthur Jackson’s trio, who won by seven, while Ron Emsley’s triple had a runaway 20-shot victory for Ground.

Entertaining Malvern Victoria, Worcester gained a 15-shot victory 104-89 although both sides claimed three winning triples.

Picking up a four and three gave the hosts a 10-shot lead after five ends but Victoria replied to take an advantage of two at halfway.

With three ends left, Worcester went 14 ahead after scoring a seven and three fours but could only add one further shot.

Leading the way was Tony Styles’ trio by 11 followed by John Carter’s triples (9) and Arthur Jackson’s trio (7).

Sal DiChiara led the way for the visitors by seven shots.

Worcester suffered a three-shot defeat 83-80 at home to Worcester Ladies, who included several male guests in their annual fixture.

The hosts held a four-shot lead after five ends, which was reduced to two after nine.

Over the following six ends, the ladies picked up a six and two fives for a nine-shot advantage.

Over the final two ends, Worcester scored a four and three but to no avail. Away guest skip Brian Evans led his trio to a comfortable 17-shot victory.
