MANAGER Carl Heeley says he will “resolve” the debate over who will captain Worcester City in the 2016/17 campaign this week.

Worcester born and bred Danny Jackman led the side out in the second half of last season and will be keen to keep the role.

But question marks hang over his position in the team having started on the bench in Worcester’s last five games.

Graham Hutchison has skippered City for much of pre-season and took over the captain’s armband from Junior English when he came on for the second half at Leamington on Saturday.

Speaking after Worcester’s 2-1 victory, Heeley said: “(The captaincy) will be resolved in the week.”

Last week, Jackman received the support of Worcester News readers to retain the captaincy.

In an online poll, the 33-year-old achieved 52 per cent of the vote ahead of Hutchison, with 27 per cent.

Ex-Brackley Town captain Tom Sharpe (nine per cent) was third choice, while former Premier League striker Lee Hughes (six) was fourth and experienced midfielder English (five) was fifth.
