SIXTEEN teams revelled in scorching conditions as Worcester’s Angel Place was turned into a cricket ground for an afternoon of soft-ball competition.
Organiser Tom Hill, from Worcestershire Cricket Board, thanked all those who got involved and even the passing shoppers who helped to create a carnival-type atmosphere.
It was the first time the Quality Solicitors Parkinson Wright Worcestershire Street Sixes had taken place in the city, and Hill is already looking ahead to next year’s event.
Worcester City Council’s team, Worcester Wildcats, triumphed in the final against West Mercia Police.
But the day wasn’t just about cricketing excellence – it was about showing the sport can be played in the most unlikely places.
An objective of the event was to bring the local business community together to raise money for the Lord Cobham Worcestershire Youth Cricket Trust which takes the sport into disadvantaged communities.
Hill said: “Most of the teams came up to me afterwards and said they would like to to do it again.”
