MARTLEY went back on top of Worcestershire Cricket League Division Four in a close finish from a game they should have strolled.
Visitors Bromsgrove thirds batted first at Jewry Field and posted an opening stand of 103 with Paul Hutchins (46) and Michael Bennison (51).
Then George Griffiths (4-25) snapped up four wickets in three overs.
With Tom Vale (2-43) and Dan Johnson (2-40) nipping out the lower order, the Boars were restricted to 205-8.
Martley’s openers had 66 on the board and progressed to 120-2 with Richard Birchley making 56 before Vale and Alex Basford moved the total to 164-3.
Vale (50), Basford (24) and three others played loose shots to leave Martley teetering at 181-6 but Johnson saw them home on 206-7 with 17no.
