A UNIVERSITY of Worcester graduate has secured a permanent post with a prestigious national sporting organisation.

Jeannie Mo has been promoted to senior coach education co-ordinator at Badminton England and believes her time at university paved the way to her current position.

The 23-year-old said: “My experience at Worcester got me involved in the sports industry relatively easily.”

Mo, who grew up in Edgbaston, Birmingham, has played the game for more than 10 years and still plays for Worcestershire.

The sports coaching development graduate played a key role in establishing a ladies’ team at the university.

She was captain for her final two years, leading the team to second place in the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges) league in 2014.

Mo, pictured above, was badminton higher education officer at the university, promoting the sport and setting up sessions for students and the community.

She came into contact with Badminton England, based in Milton Keynes, and was offered a month’s work experience.

Mo worked with the development team in the West Midlands, then a post in the education and training team became available.

She is now responsible for organising and promoting coaching education courses all over the country.

Mo said: “I had opportunities to network with the County Sport Partnership, which was based at the university.

“The staff at the university that got me volunteering for Badminton England helped in getting me known to them and eventually getting a job here.

“I would definitely recommend current students to get involved in clubs or societies.”
