RICHARD Oliver’s dominance of Whitehall contests continued when he again came out on top when his club visited Reddings pool at Hawford Fisheries.

On peg 18, Oliver’s opening attack with pellet and corn offered at 13 metres proved to be the perfect approach when he put a winning 63lb 2oz 0dr of small carp onto the scales.

The runner-up prize went to Worcester canal veteran Colin Davis, who took small carp to sweetcorn bait at six metres on peg two weighing 54-2.

Third came Dean Grubb, who caught 52-8 on corn carp on peg 17.

Section winners were Steve Thompson, Carl Graham, Keith Holt and Mike Hope.

Despite being low and clear, the River Avon at Twyning was in a better mood for the Wednesday Droitwich Spa open.

Richard Blight won with a feeder and bolo-caught peg 45 weight of 15-10 consisting of four bream and silvers taken on the maggot.

Second with a float-caught small fish weight of 8-14 was Alan Baldwin on peg 38 and third went to Len Merrill, who put a feeder-caught 7-12 onto the scales.

The Sunday Spa club contest was on the canal at Shernal Green, where Pete Chance was declared winner with 6-4-10 of skimmers and small roach.

He beat River Avon legend Lloyd Davis, who weighed in a second-placed 4-15-15.

Section prizes went to Dave Stevens and Kevin Downton.

The next club contest is on Sunday on the Avon.

Dave Towell stuck to his favoured method feeder approach to win the Barbourne AC contest on the club pool with an all-carp net taken from peg 28 weighing 48-0.

Runner-up was Terry Box with 36-8 coming to corn and pellet from the margins of peg 26.

Nigel Hobday came third weighing 33-10 to beat Gary Short, who put 26-10 onto the scales from peg seven for fourth place.

This weekend, the club visit the prolific Sion Farm Fishery.

Upton-upon-Severn AC held a club contest on a rising River Severn where Shaun Gould came out winner.

He fished his open-end feeder and maggot towards the far bank on unfancied peg eight for four bream and a few skimmers of 24-0.

Second on peg 37 was Dave Huggins, who had to wait until the final hour to take two of his three bream catch which together weighed 15-4.

Third went to Richard Brewer with a brace of bream from peg 28 going 13-6 and in fourth on peg 16 was Alf Hand with 12-12 of bleak.

The River Severn at Holdfast hosted the second of Malvern Anglers’ Saturday afternoon matches.

With a mild southerly wind and the river in perfect condition, high expectations were met with the best weights of the season so far.

But eventual winner Chris Loveridge had to wait for two hours before he had a bite, then a shoal of large bream started to feed in his swim.

His winning weight of 39-8 was made up of several big bream up to 6lb caught on swim feeder with worm bait.

Paul Lane also found big bream to weigh in 28-12 for second although he was frustrated at losing several fish.

Some way behind, John Shaw found a couple of bream to weigh in 8-6 for third, while Richard Webster worked hard for a bag of various smaller fish totalling 6-12 for fourth.

Graham Rees managed 1-0 for fifth.
