OMBERSLEY denied title-chasing Wolverhampton as they held on for a losing draw in the Birmingham and District Cricket League Premier DIvision.
Although Wasim Jaffer continued to threaten every top-flight batting record since the league widened its horizons in 1998, Wolverhampton fell further behind leaders Berkswell.
Jaffer hit a superb unbeaten 141 in a total of 260-6 and shared in a third-wicket stand of 102 with Zen Malik (42).
Ombersley then recovered from 121-5 to reach 236-7 at the close, thanks to an undefeated 73 from Oliver Uffindall, who was also his side’s best bowler with 3-82.
Kenilworth Wardens are the most likely side to challenge the top two during the second half of the season but were unable to secure a victory at Worcestershire's Barnt Green, who responded to 294-9 with 258-7.
Nick Seager (77) and Blake Maher (53) scored half-centuries for Wardens, while Matt Lamb (82) and Tom Banton (79) did likewise for the home side.
The most successful bowler for Green was Tom Brown (4-64) with Scott Stenning (4-67) producing similar figures for Wardens.
Former Worcestershire player Neil Pinner (87), Jonathan Wright (72) and Matt Pardoe (55) eased Kidderminster to 315-8 against bottom club Leamington Spa, who were all out for 195 in response.
Wicketkeeper Nathaniel Hooker scored 59 for Leamington but Pardoe completed a fine all-round game for Kidderminster with 4-41.
