HEREFORD United have signalled their intentions to keep hold of Andy Williams by making an improved offer to the striker.

Williams is one of several players currently mulling over options for next season but the Bulls have stepped up their efforts to retain his services.

The 20-year-old was a target for Bristol Rovers last season but turned down a move to the West Country in January, despite Hereford accepting a £150,000 bid.

Manager Graham Turner said: "I've seen Andy Williams and increased the offer to him, so I'm not sure what his line of thought is at the moment."

The United chief added: "There are other players that we're still waiting for and I've said before that they've got until June 19 to let us know so they are all sitting on those offers.

"Until they sort themselves out it does make it difficult to know who you want to bring into the club and where we need players.

"We are meeting players all the time. A lot of the foundation work has been done but so far nothing has actually been put on paper."

Hereford have failed to come to an agreement over a suitable date with Rovers for a pre-season friendly.
