HEREFORD United are continuing their efforts to assemble a squad for next season.

Only six players remain contracted to the Edgar Street club after Phil Gulliver left for Blue Square Premier outfit Rushden and Diamonds last week.

The defender's departure left just Wayne Brown, Trent McClenahan, Richard Rose, Luke Webb, Ben Smith and Tim Sills secured for next season.

Alex Jeannin, Stuart Fleet-wood, Glyn Thompson, Mar-tyn Giles, Danny Thomas and Andy Ferrell have already left the club.

Offers have been made to several other players and the club has set a deadline of Tuesday, June 19 for those to be accepted or rejected for the 2007/08 campaign.

With the close season now in full swing, manager Gra-ham Turner wants to secure the serivces of personnel as soon as possible.

He said: "Players have until June 19 to decide on offers we have made them but we have as yet heard nothing from the likes of Rob Purdie, Dean Beckwith, Simon Travis or Alan Connell.

"But we have actively been contacting, often through agents, a number of players, some of whom are out of the country on holiday at the moment."

Meanwhile, Bristol Rovers are being lined up to play a pre-season friendly at Edgar Street.

Hereford already have four warm-up fixtures in the diary and are hoping to add the newly-promoted club to that list.

Rovers, who played the Bulls three times last season, won promotion to League One after beating Shrewsbury Town 3-1 in the play-off final at Wembley.

A date for the match has yet to be confirmed.
