FORMER Worcestershire amateur champion Richard Wassell has opened a new chapter in his golfing career after graduating from the De Vere Belfry Golf Club's coaching academy.

The 23-year-old, who turned professional four years ago, will now juggle playing in the Midlands Order of Merit and Euro Pro Tour with working as an assistant coach at Bromsgrove Golf Centre.

"There's a lot of competition for jobs so to get one at Bromsgrove Golf Centre is a real boost. The facilities here are modern and excellent," said Wassell.

"Teaching golf is something I really enjoy doing and I get to work with people of all ages who are all enthusiastic about learning the sport."

Wassell, who lives in Kidderminster, will also be hoping to make his mark in qualifying tournaments and book his place in Midlands Order of Merit events over the summer.

He will be playing in a qualification tournament in Leic-estershire in the hope of making it into the Midlands Masters.

Wassell will also be playing in several tournaments on the Euro Pro Tour, which is a stepping stone to qualifying for the European Tour.

"I will be teaching and playing golf from now on. The Euro Pro Tour is very tough and it is a real step up for me to be playing in it," said Wass-ell.
