DARTS commentator Sid Waddell reckons Terry Jenkins will have his work cut out to overcome reigning world champion Raymond van Barneveld and book a place in the final of the Sky Holsten Premier League Darts.

Waddell, who will be behind the mike for Sky Sports at the event in Brighton, believes the Ledbury ace will have to be at his best to win tonight's semi-final encounter.

"If this match had happened in the last week of February, I would have said Terry would have had a 60/40 chance of winning," said Waddell. "Barney was looking a bit tired and Terry was going out with 100-plus shots with confidence.

"His problem is going to be that Barney is in much better form. He has been training intensively and has lost about a stone-and-a-half since round five."

Van Barneveld's game has improved since he visited a Zen instructor prior to his World Championship win but there are some chinks in his armour. The Dutchman has been trying to emulate the stacking' technique employed by 13-time world champion Phil Taylor and Waddell thinks it could be his downfall.

He said: "Terry's only chance of winning is if Barney gets obsessed with stacking and he forgets what his Zen teacher has told him."

The semi-finals, starting at 6pm, will be played over the best of 21 legs, with the final being the best of 31 legs.

Each of the semi-finalists is now guaranteed a £30,000 pay-day, with the winner claiming £75,000 and the runner-up taking home £40,000.

If Jenkins triumphs, he will face either Taylor or Dennis Priestley in the final.
