EIGHTY-EIGHT The Vale seniors gathered to witness their new captain’s drive-in.
They played a Texas scramble on the International Course and enjoyed a festive lunch before the 2015 club competition winners were presented with trophies.
New captain David Rimell and the players gathered on the 10th tee to witness his first drive in his year of captaincy at the Bishampton club.
On a warm, dry, overcast day, players dispersed for a shotgun start with underfoot conditions wet following heavy rain.
Rimell’s team, consisting of ladies’ captain Pauline Laight, men’s captain Phil Lavis and head professional Ryan Dix, won with 62.1 points.
Second were Ken Vincent, Mick Heard, Alan Lee and Brian Summers with 64.4.
Peter Richards, Malcolm Armson, Tony Perfect and Mick Hughes were third with 64.9.
Outgoing captain Rob Sharp presented the trophies with Dave Webb taking the salvers for the summer challenge and champion shield.
Jim Rushworth’s win over Tony Perryman saw him lift the winter singles knockout salver and Derek Lambert claimed the veterans’ cup.
There were two salvers for Richard Fletcher in the autumn challenge and with Brian Andrews in the summer pairs.
Chris Enticknap triumphed in the Kirkpatrick Cup.
There were notable wins for Bernard Rayner in the winter singles plate, David Millard in the Jim Rushworth Trophy, Les Cosnett in the five-round eclectic, John Milward in the Bill Kelly Memorial Cup and Malcolm Bostock for the Eric Salter Award.
