WORCESTER Nomads claimed a fine 15-point tie at top-of-the-table Brockhampton in Worcestershire League Division One.

Vinny De Souza claimed the vital wicket of Chris Boroughs but Henry Langford (56) helped Brockhampton to 177-9.

Neil Thompson, Ben Schiffman and Geoff Taylor all aided De Souza in keeping the score as low as possible Nomads lost Simon Harris in the first over but Darren Lakin (56) and Malcolm Jones (63) added 100 for the second wicket and left Nomads cruising for victory.

When Jones was dismissed, the score was on 135-4 but Nomads then snailed along, leaving Thompson and Blake Raymond to score eight runs off the last over.

But they fell one short with Raymond given lbw, meaning the totals ended level.

An impressive display from Nomads Seconds earned a six-wicket win over Brockhampton to go top of the league.

Nic Lloyd (3-14) and Matt Ormerod (4-49) did the real damage as Brockhampton fell for 136 runs in the 42nd over.

Ben Chatfield claimed a wicket and Oli Butterworth chipped in with 2-37.

Paul Gardner (20) and Ormerod (43) put on 56 for the first wicket in reply.

Andy Leach added 17 before Roger Dixon and Josh Stafford steered Nomads home with 139-4 in the 36th over.

Nomads Thirds thrashed Astwood Bank in Division Eight by 10 wickets.

Bank were skittled for 41 as league debutants Cassey Sanders and Matt North took 5-17 and 3-10 respectively.

Chris Bland scored 22 not out as the hosts cruised to victory in 8.4 overs.
