FATHER-and-son duo Martin and Tom Weston were celebrating at the Clifton-on-Teme Hunt point-to-point at Upper Sapey when they won the Mixed Open race with their horse Caught At Dawn.

Meanwhile, the sun smiled on the first meeting under BHRC rules of 2007 at the Allensmore circuit near Hereford.

It was a red-letter day for Dai Lloyd-Evans, who sent out family horse Wilbro Douglas, ridden by Leominster shop-fitter Patrick Morris, for courageous victories in both the heat and final.

The partnership snatched the lead in the final from the gallant Symlog Derryn Du and refused to allow the fast finishing pair Take Flight (Paul Evans) and Southpark (Gar-eth Price) to head him.

It was a glorious start to the season for Morris, who spent much of last year sidelined by injury.

David Bevan dominated the intermediate with CU Sals-berg and also scored with Hilltop Greek for popular Kington trainer Pete Lloyd.

David's cousin, Colin Bevan, also visited the winners' enclosure twice. An electrifying run with Chaps Comm-ander collared the maiden event, while his handsome crowd-pleaser, Free Conten-der, took the top-grade heat.
